Change of Plans .... Still 11 days to go
due to a pretty big screw up on my program's part, i'm not leaving until the 13th rather then the 2nd. It is both frustrating and maybe a good thing. Upon finding this out, I went through what seemed like the longest three hours ever trying to change my flight. At one point I actually thought I wasn't going to able to go and man it was a sobering thought and I must say I am eternally grateful to my family for making this work.
As much as I just wanna take off and get to Istanbul (I REALLY REALLY WANT TO), an extra two weeks is not completely terrible. Since my last post I've been VT and the Sam Adams Brewery (although with Jimmy not Katherine or Alex), but I never made it to holy cross or spent a night with just lydia and moriah.
Since being home, I gone to most lydia's basketball games and we've gotten to spend a lot of time together. It's different then living at home in high school. I always had a schedule and usually left my house around 7:15 am and didn't come home until after practice or my game sometimes that meant Lydia was in bed before I was home or I'd only get to see her at my game or if I had to pick her up from her things. This span of time is different. I get to go to her games and give her advice, but its more then that I get a whole saturday afternoon with her to talk or shoot hoops or just annoy each other. We've always been close but this time as allowed to be there for her rather just send her a text or something. I've noticed the same thing with Moriah just a simple lunch between the two of us is just fun as going out and often we talk more. It's been great to spend this time with them, I feel like they get a better understanding of me and perhaps this trip.
Already since receiving the news, I have spent two nights just hanging out with Moriah and it's been sweet. I've found that sometimes just going to the neighbor bar with your friends is all you need or that night in with cheese, crackers, and wine can be just as fun as a night out. Honestly, who cares what you're doing when your with the people you love? That's all that matters surrounding yourself with good friends and family. The extra time gives me the chance to do that. Here's to spending some extra time with some of my favorite people...Bottoms UP!
